Most people on Ruumble are exactly who they say they are. These are the habits that keep it that way, and what to do when someone is not.
In immediate danger? Call your local emergency number before you do anything else. 112 works across the EU, 911 in the US and Canada, 999 in the UK, 000 in Australia. Report the person in the app afterwards so we can act on the account.
Before you meet
- Talk in the app first. The game gives you four rounds to get a feel for someone before the chat even opens. Use it.
- Be slow with personal details. Your home address, workplace, and financial information can wait. Nobody reasonable will push for them early.
- Look for the blue badge. Verified means the person matched a live selfie against their photos. It confirms the face, not the character.
- Video or voice call before meeting if you have any doubt about who you are talking to.
Meeting for the first time
- Somewhere public, and somewhere you know. A bar, a cafe, a busy park.
- Tell a friend where you are going, who with, and when you expect to be back. Share your live location with them if you can.
- Get yourself there and back. Do not be dependent on a stranger for a ride home.
- Mind your drink, and keep it with you.
- Leave if it feels wrong. You owe no one an explanation and no one a second hour. Discomfort is a good enough reason.
Signs of a scam
Romance scams follow a pattern. Be suspicious when someone:
- Declares strong feelings very fast, before you have really met.
- Always has a reason they cannot video call or meet.
- Asks you to move to WhatsApp or Telegram almost immediately.
- Mentions an investment, crypto, or a trading platform "that changed their life".
- Has an emergency - a medical bill, a stuck payment, a customs fee - and needs money.
- Sends photos that look professional or inconsistent with the rest of their profile.
Never send money to someone you met on a dating app. Not a loan, not a gift card, not crypto, not "just to get through this week". Once it is sent, it is gone. Report the profile instead.
Reporting and blocking
Open the profile, tap the menu in the corner, and choose Report or Block. Blocking is immediate and mutual: they disappear from your deck and you from theirs, and they are not told.
Reports are reviewed by a person. We may remove content, restrict an account, or ban it outright. Reporting from inside the app is the fastest route: it sends us the profile and the conversation, so there is nothing for you to describe.
What we do on our side
- Photo checks. Your main photo must contain a real face, checked on your device.
- Verification. Optional selfie matching, giving a blue badge on the profile.
- Automated screening of uploaded photos for prohibited content.
- No bots. Every profile in your deck is a real account. Ruumble has never used fake profiles, and never will.
Getting help
If something happened to you, you do not have to handle it alone.
Ruumble: report the profile in the app, or use Settings > Help. Serious reports are read by a person.
Sexual violence and domestic abuse helplines exist in most countries and are free and confidential. In Denmark, Lev Uden Vold is 1888. Elsewhere, the emergency operator below can put you through to the right one.
